Poverty Simulation
Could you survive a month in poverty?
In 2009, there were almost 18,000 people in Stearns County living in poverty (according to federal guidelines a family of four living at poverty would make $23,050 per year).
With the help of Target employees, United Way will host a Poverty Simulation on May 4, 2012 at either 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. or 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the United Way office.
This learning tool has been created as a way to help people understand the realities of poverty. Although play money will be used, the Poverty Simulation is not a game. It is a simulation that enables participants to look at poverty from a variety of angles and then to discuss the potential effects on Central Minnesota.
We welcome your participation in this experience. Please RSVP by filling out the form below.
